Managing Your Customers on the Users Page
The Users page lists every customer who has an account on your site, with their name, email, location, number of orders and the day they joined. From one place you can search for a customer, download your list as a spreadsheet, add or fix an account, reset a password, and give a trusted helper their own login to your dashboard.
Where to find it
Go to Dashboard → Users.
The customer list
Each row shows Name, Email / Username, Location, Orders, Carts and Joined. Location appears only when a customer has a city or state on file. Carts counts carts they have started but not checked out.
- Search by name or email address. The list shows the matches.
- The list shows 50 customers at a time. Use Previous and Next to page through it.
- Click a customer to open their account.
Some accounts never appear here: IndieMade staff accounts, the test-checkout bot accounts Google Merchant Center uses to check your store, and your own login. Your customer list stays clean.
Download your customers as a spreadsheet
Click Export CSV. You get a file named users-2026-10-06.csv (with today's date) that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. It has one row per customer with these columns: Name, Email, First Name, Last Name, Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Zip, Country, Orders and Joined. If you have a search typed in, the export contains only the matching customers.
Add a customer
- Click + Add User.
- Fill in First name, Last name and Email address. The email is also their login username.
- Under Password, choose Send a password-set email so they can pick their own (recommended) or Set a password now and share it with them yourself. A password you set must be at least 8 characters.
- Click Create user.
Edit a customer
Open a customer from the list. Their page has a few cards:
- Account details — change their First name, Last name or Email / Username, then click Save changes. The platform checks that the new email is not already used by another account.
- Address — the address saved on their customer profile, for reference.
- Password — type a new password and click Set Password, or click Send Password Reset Email and let them choose their own.
Give a helper a Dashboard Manager login
A Dashboard Manager can sign in to your store dashboard and manage products, orders, customers, pages and most other content. They have nearly the same powers you do, so only enable this for people you trust to help run the store.
- Open the helper's account, or add them with + Add User.
- Tick Dashboard Manager.
- Click Save permissions (on a new account, Create user).
Untick the box and save again to take the access away. A Dashboard Manager cannot delete your own login or the account that uses your store's email address.
To stop anyone from adding new Dashboard Managers, go to Dashboard → Settings → Advanced Settings and tick Disable Dashboard Manager access. This hides the toggle. Existing Dashboard Managers keep their access until you remove them.
Sort customers into groups
Groups come with Private Listings, which is included on the Plus plan. Install it from Dashboard → Add-ons. A group is a list of customers you can open private listings or private prices to, such as Wholesale or Trade show 2026. Only you see the group names.
Once Private Listings is on, the Users page gains a Groups column, a Group filter above the list, and a Groups button.
- Click Groups, type a name such as Wholesale, and click Add group.
- Open the group. Under Add someone, type a customer's email address and click Add to group. If they have no account yet, they join the moment they create one with that email.
- Click Remove next to a name to take them out. Anything opened to the group closes for them straight away.
You can also do this from the customer's own page: tick the groups under Customer groups and click Save groups. Each group has Rename group and Delete group links.
Delete a customer account
Open the customer, scroll to Delete account, tick Yes, permanently delete this account and click Delete account. This cannot be undone.
Deleting removes the account and any abandoned carts. Their past orders stay in your order history, shown as guest orders. Anything they wrote, such as a review, stays up under Anonymous. You cannot delete your own login, IndieMade staff accounts or the account that uses your store's email address.
Tips
- Use Send Password Reset Email rather than setting a password yourself. The customer picks a password only they know.
- Export your list before a newsletter campaign and import the CSV into your email tool.
- Guest checkouts do not create an account, so they do not appear here. Use Orders to find those buyers.
