Choosing a Theme for Your IndieMade Site

Your theme is the starting look of your whole site: its fonts, colors, spacing and the feel of every page. IndieMade has thirteen themes, and you can switch whenever you like without losing any products, pages or posts. Themes are included on every plan.

Changing your theme

  1. Go to Dashboard → Design. The Theme card shows the theme you use now.
  2. Click Choose a Different Theme.
  3. Look through Available themes. Your current one is marked (current theme).
  4. Click Use this theme under the one you want.

Dashboard → Design. Choose a Different Theme opens the list of themes.
Available themes: Coopworth, Crisp and Crystalline, each with a preview picture and a Use this theme link, the first one circled
Each theme has a preview. Click Use this theme to switch.

The themes are Coopworth, Crisp, Crystalline, FarmHouse, Gentoo, Glaze, Moment, Ochre, Rooster, Shoestring, Silky, Sultan and Waxwing.

Mix and match

A theme is a starting point, not a cage. The header, the store grid and the product page each have their own layout settings, and every layout works with every theme. Love one theme's colors but another's menu? Pick the theme you like most, then choose the header and store layouts you want:

Each theme keeps its own fonts and colors. After you switch, open Theme Fonts and Colors to set yours on the new theme.

What to look at when choosing

  • The header and menu. Some themes show the menu as a row of links across the top on a computer; others always fold it into a menu button, the same on a computer and a phone. Both work well; it is a matter of taste.
  • Where the logo sits: left, centered, or above the menu.
  • Your photos. Look at your own products on the theme, not just the preview pictures. Switch, look at your store and a product page on your phone and your computer, and switch again if it is not right.

Tips

  • Switch themes when your shop is quiet, then look over your homepage, store and a product page before you get back to work.
  • If you have added Custom CSS, check it after switching. CSS written for one theme can look different on another.
