Transferring Your GPT-Crafted Content to IndieMade: A Non-Techie's Guide

Basic Transfer: Copy and Paste

There's an easy way to get started: simply use the copy icon in GPT to grab the generated content, then paste it into your IndieMade page. If you've been following along, you should already know how to create a page with IndieMade. Remember, you can edit the page in two ways - directly inline on the site itself, or by choosing 'Edit Page' to access all the page properties.

Working with HTML: Breaking It Down

Now, let's delve into some useful techniques that can really make your site stand out. Firstly, try asking GPT to provide an HTML version of your content. Since GPT has a limit on responses, you might need to break up your request. For instance, ask GPT to provide part of the content, then ask for the rest in a second prompt.

Inserting HTML: The Source Button

To insert this HTML into your page, go to 'Edit Page' on the dashboard. In the body toolbar, click on 'Source' and paste the HTML provided by GPT directly into the body section. Once done, click the 'Source' button again to preview the finished HTML. Don't worry about the HTML code - GPT handles all of it. But when copying sections, just be mindful of where to place the source HTML.

Styling Your Page: The Custom CSS Section

Want to get a little more advanced? Prompt GPT to style the HTML so it looks better. Ask for the style code in a separate prompt so you can copy it. Be sure to ask GPT to be specific on the style names in the HTML. This ensures the style applies to this content or similar content, and not the entire site.

If you've asked GPT to use the HTML template provided, the style code will apply to all new pages created in that HTML template. To insert the style code, go to the 'Design' section of the dashboard on the left menu, then to 'Custom CSS'. Paste in your style code at the bottom of any existing code.

Understand the Basics of CSS

CSS is the style code for HTML, but you don't really need to know much about it. If you look at the code provided, you'll start to understand what it's doing. Remember, you don't need to do the coding yourself - keep prompting GPT if it's not quite right. Consider GPT your web designer; all you need to do is paste the code in the right places. The HTML goes in the 'Source' section of your page, and the CSS style code goes in the 'Custom CSS' section in the 'Design' area.
